AGING

The Committee on Aging shall serve as a forum for educating the Greek Orthodox community concerning the needs of older adults and the aging community, in order to secure the community’s support and understanding. The areas of concern include, but are not limited to:

The Committee shall also provide information on local resources.
AIDS

The mission is one of education and awareness on the AIDS epidemic by reporting on current developments in research, prevention, treatment and support of the global community to combat the disease. Most importantly, the goal of this committee is to encourage understanding and compassion for those suffering with the disease.

The Internal Audit Committee is charged to meet at least once annually to conduct an audit of the Society’s books and records and to receive the audit and recommendations of the Certified Public Accountant.

CANCER

The mission of the National Philoptochos Cancer Fund is to offer financial support, assistance and treatment to children and families with cancer, and to educate and promote awareness to the community at large.
CARDIAC

The mission of the National Philoptochos Cardiac Fund is to provide financial support and other necessary assistance for the treatment of cardiac disease and abnormalities, and to help fund cardiac programs in nationally recognized U.S. hospitals and to promote training and education programs to improve cardiac care.
DISASTER RELIEF

The mission of the Disaster Relief Committee is to provide aid, compassion, ministry, dignity and hope to those in crisis; and to assist the most vulnerable populations secure food, shelter and safety during natural disasters through the utilization of existing Federal Emergency Management resources coupled with local, municipal and Philoptochos National, Metropolis and Archdiocesan efforts.

The Membership Committee of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society seeks to educate all persons of all ages of its philanthropic work, in order to engage all Orthodox Christian women in membership and participation in the Society.
The Committee shall promote awareness, productivity, teamwork, good will, harmony and friendship of Greek Orthodox faithful of all ages, for the betterment of the Philoptochos Society and the Greek Orthodox community, with the ultimate goal being the membership and participation of all Orthodox Christian women in the Society.

The mission of the Social Services Committee shall be the improvement of the quality of life for those in need of assistance within the Greek Orthodox community, provided in a way that maintains the dignity and self-determination of the individual. Assistance to individuals will be provided through short term intervention, motivational support, and referral to other appropriate local and civic resources.
To achieve this goal, the Committee shall organize and sponsor outreach programs, designed to educate and inform the community, and shall regularly review all pertinent protocols and procedures.
